Young doctors seek increase in stipend

2019-06-20
PESHAWAR: Young doctors have accused managements of the private sector hospitals for not paying stipend on pattern of the government hospitals and described it violation of a Supreme Court decision in this regard.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, a group of young doctors led by Private Doctors Association representatives Dr Qazi Shahbaz and Dr Zeeshan said the apex coud had already directed Pakistan Medical and Dental Council to ensure disbursement of stipend to the house officers in private hospitals on pattern of the government-run hospitals but PMDC was yet to implement the coun`s decision.

The doctors said the house officers were paid about half of the remuneration in the private hospitals compared to the government hospitals which was sheer discrimination against them. `We will move court against the private hospitals and PMDC if our demand is not accepted within a week, they warned.

The young doctors said the private hospitals were charging high fees and accumulating huge money on daily basis but were not ready to pay stipend to doctors at least as per a decision of the Supreme Coun.

They also demanded of the CJP to take notice of the injustices. Bureau Repon
