Bureau Report 2022-06-20
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued additional guidelines for reducing the petroleum products` use by civil servants in the province.

These guidelines are in addition to a decision to cut by 35 per cent the POL ceiling of government officers. The guidelines, which have already been approved by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, vary for different officers.

The guidelines for the chief secretary, additional chief secretary, senior member Board of Revenue and inspector general of police state that all types of meetings requiring presence of field officers, including commissioner, deputy commissioners, regional police officers and district police officers, should be convened through video link.

However, such guidelines won`t be applied on officers posted in Peshawar, who may attend meetings in-person if required.

Apart from saving POL and other expenditures, such steps will ensure full-time presence of officers in the field for better service delivery. It will also help ensure security of officers, which may be compromised during the outstation movements, state the guidelines.

All types of internal and departmental meetings wherein district officers of the respective departments, including administrative heads of health, education and other department are required, should be held through video link.

Heads of the attached formations, directorates, autonomous and semiautonomous bodies and development authorities should also follow the guidelines in letter and spirit.
