MUZAFFARABAD: A retired secretary to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government and his spouse died and two other family members were injured in a road accident in Sudhnoti district on Sunday.

Police said Sardar Mohammad Ishaque was returning with his family from district headquarters Palandari to his upper Ganath Laitran village when his jeep plunged hundreds of feet down the road into a ravine.

Mr Ishaque, 62, and his spouse Zahida, 55 died on the spot while his daughterin-law and grand daughter were injured but are out of danger.

An engineer by qualification, Mr Ishaque had retired as secretary planning and development two years ago.

He was serving as project director in University of Poonch, Rawalakot.-Staff Correspondent
