Cantonment hospital`s emergency wing inaugurated

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has completed the refurbishment of the Emergency and Accident department of the Rawalpindi Cantonment General Hospital (RCGH).

The refurbishment scheme, funded by donations, has improved facilities offered by the department, and trained doctors and paramedical staff.

The renovations include improved wards and an increase in the number of beds. Two small operation theatres, an isolation ward, a doctors` room and a waiting room have also been added.

RCB Cantonment Executive Officer, Fahim Zafar Khan, told Dawn that the hospital received more than Rs.10 million from various organizations. He said that hospital staff had been trained by the Combined Military Hospital, and that air conditioners and other appliances had been provided by the civic body.

Khan added that the RCB has allocated funds for further improvements to hospital facilities.

The refurbished building was inaugurated by RCB President and Station Commander Brig. Zahid Rana on Wednesday. RCB Vice President Raja Jehandad Khan, Cantonment Executive Officer Fahim Zafar Khan, and RCGH Medical Superintendent Athar Naeem Khakwani also attended.

Speaking at the inauguration, Brig. Rana commended the work, and reminded the hospital administration to administer improved treatment to its patients, and to treat them with care and respect.
