Special trains cancelled

2022-08-20
ALL special trains which were to bring the Pakistan Government personnel from India and were scheduled to leave Delhi after August 14 have been cancelled until further orders. This has been due to the disturbed conditions prevailing on both the routes. After sabotage of the special train which left Delhi on August 9 between Bhatinda and Bahawalnagar, the Pakistan special trains were diverted to the other route via Lahore. But the train which left Delhi on August 14 was again derailed by the miscreants between Amritsar and Lahore. So far 13 special trains have arrived from Delhi.

They have brought over 8,000 people. Out of this, about 2,200 unmarried men have lef t their families in Delhi or at their native places in Hindustan, in response to the appeal issued by the Pakistan Government recently. The remaining 5,800 consist of the Pakistan Government servants and their families.

[Meanwhile, itwas also reported that] Tuesday, Aug. 19, was the first working day of the Pakistan Government, when about 5,000 Officers, typists and assistants, turned up for work. As all the files have not yet arrived from Delhi the staff concentrated more on the organisational side.

Office rooms were set in order, the clerks and assistants went about seeing other departmental offices with which they would have to deal with later.-DawnKarachi
