BAHAWALPUR: Three men have been booked for alleged gang-rape of two women who were on a recreational visit to the Lal Sohanra National Park, about 35km from here.
According to police sources, two women (names withheld) went to the park for recreation on Friday, where they met three suspects, who alleged lured them to a deserted place in the forest area and raped them.
As the suspects were about to escape after committing the crime, the women raised an alarm.
Alerted by the women`s cries, some locals rushed to the scene and nabbed the three suspects. They later handed them over to Dera Bakha police post staff.
On the receipt of information, SHO Iqbal Awan of Abbas Nagar Police Station reached the spot and after initial investigation ordered detaining the suspects in the lockup. The two women were also shifted to the police station where their families were called.
On the women`s complaint, Abbas Nagar police registered an FIR against the three suspects and formally arrested them.
According to the district police, the women have been sent for medico-legal examination and further legal proceedings would be conducted in the light of the doctors` report. Meanwhile, Abbas Nagar police also arrested a man for allegedly raping a six-year-old boy at 6/BC village.
The police said the suspect abducted the minor when he was playing outside his house, and took her to a deserted place where he raped him.
The suspect was arrested after the boy`s parents lodged a complaint with the police.
