This was stated by chairman board of directors of Pesco, Engineer Malik Asad, while talking to reporters here the other day. Mr Asad said that efforts had been started to address issues of outdated wires, transformers and Kunda system.
He remarked that foreign investment in energy sector would only come if power companies curbed power theft, which he said, was over 50 per cent.
Similarly, he said construction of more dams was nee-ded to end electricity shortages and keep the industries running.
He said that steps would be taken to make Pesco a profit earning organisation.
Mr Asad said that in Kohat all the feeders were running in losses, adding that same situation prevailed in the province which had made Pesco`s privatisation very crucial for making it consumer friendly.
The Pesco official said that electricity theft was not possible without the connivance of Wapda employees especially meter readers. He said the overbilling problem was also the result of power theft.
Mr Asad asked consumers to lodge complaints of over-billing with him.
