ISLAMABAD: Model Ayyan Ali requested the Supreme Court again on Monday for early hearing of her case against the government`s move of not removing her name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
In a two-page application moved through her counsel Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, the model contended that she urgently needed to go to the UA E to fulfil her contractual obligations for her recording and photo sessions.
Therefore, she said, the court should fix the matter urgently, preferably on Dec 22, as the delay in the hearing of the case was creating hardship for her since her name was still on the ECL.
The model was arrested on March 14, 2014, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, while travelling abroad with a valid visa, passport and airticket and carrying foreign currency worth $506,800 without prior permission of the State Bank of Pakistan and without anylawful excuse as to why she was taking the money abroad.
In her fresh application, she contended that failing to reach Dubai in time would cause her to pay $10 million to the advertising company concerned with which she had signed a modelling contract and that it would result in irreparable loss to her in addition to legal proceedings against her by the company.
The petitioner said that she was under great mental stress since the f ailure to fulfil her contractual obligations would also undermine her reputation.
In order to stop the model`s travel abroad, Saima Ejaz, the widow of murdered Customs inspector Ejaz Mehmood, had moved a petition in the Supreme Court, requesting it to keep her name in the ECL
