Egos hinder alliance of opposition parties, says Shujaat

GUJRAT: PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said an alliance of opposition parties can be formed if the parties refrain from nominating candidates for the office of prime minister.

He said this while speaking at a luncheon hosted in his honour by PTI`s Besa union council chairman Chaudhry Haneef near Sara-i-Alamgir on Monday.

Mr Hussain said the focus should be on the nationalinterest agenda and everyone would have to sacrifice personal ego before thinking of forming alliance of opposition parties.

He said the returning of PPP chief Asif Ali Zardari from abroad was a welcome move, adding he had already said that anybody who wanted to do politics should first come back to Pakistan.

He regretted that the government was not implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) which was formulated in the presence of the former army chief.

The PML-Q president said the people were unhappy with the present government for its failure to rein in price-hike, unemployment and the law and order situation.

Mr Hussain said he had met PTI chief Imran Khan and asked him to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) on one-point agenda (the electronic voting), but no headway could be made in this regard.
