OKARA: The district officer (roads) was nabbed on Monday red-handed while `taking bribe` in an Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) raid.

According to EAC the district roads department of ficer, Azher Ali, demanded bribe from a contractor, Mr Iqbal, for helping him in some construction contract.

The contractor informed the local ACE office about the DO`s demand.

An ACE team headed by Special Judicial Magistrate Tariq Mehmood and comprising in-charge Inspector Ghafar Khan, assistant subinspectors Muhammad Anwar, Tahir Mushtaq and three other staffers, raided the DO`s of fice and arrested the of ficer red-handed while he was receiving Rs300,000 from the complainant.

The ACE police station registered a case (FIR no 73/16)under sections 5/2/47 of the Anti Corruption Act and 161 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
