Three additional BHC judges sworn in

QUETTA: Three newly-inducted additional judges of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) Muhammad Najmuddin Mengal, Muhammad Ayub Tareen and Muhammad Asif Reki took oath of their offices on Monday.

BHC Chief Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar administered the oath to the new judges at a ceremony held at the high court.

With these inductions, the number of the BHC judges increased to 14.

By the end of the year 2024, a total of 5,272 cases were waiting to be heard in the BHC.

According to the record, 6,694 cases were filed in the Balochistan High Court during the judicial year 2024 while a total of 18,685 cases are lying in subordinate courts. With new inductions, the case backlog is expected to be reduced.-Saleem Shahid
