KARACHI: The first-round matches of the boys juniors Under-18 category in the Ghazi & Magsi National Juniors & Seniors Tennis Championship were one-sided affairs here at the Modern Club on Monday.

Nabeel Ali Qayum, Amir Mazari, Mohammad Junaid, Muzammil Bhand, Hazik Areejo, Mohammad Yahya, Junaid Mehar, Ahsan Ahmed and Mohammad Salar all registered crushing straight sets victories to move into the next round.

The boys Under-14 category also witnessed lopsided results with Syed Abdullah, Yahya Haleem, Mir Abbas and Zain Nomi cruising into the second round.

In the men`s second-round, Ibrahim Iltifat crushed Hais Tariq 8-4 while Kashan Tariq thrashed Laraib Shamsi 8-1. Ruhab Faisal got a walk over win against Rahim.

Earlier in the men`s first-round matches, Ismail Aftab, Muneer Derbari and Taimoor Ansari emerged victorious.

Syed Sufyan, Umer Zaman and Mohammad Ayan recorded wins in the second-rounds of the Under-12 category while Arsh Imran, Hamza Khan and Ashar Bhaila booked semi-finals spot in the Under-10 category.

The men`s doubles second round matches saw the pair of Hashish Kumar and Murad Khan beat the pair of Abdullah and Hanzala 8-4 while Ibrahim partnered up with Bilal Soomro to trounce the duo of Amir Mumtaz and Syed Qutub 8-1.

The girls` action also kicked off on Monday, with Soraya Bus defeating Tahreem Yousuf 6-0, 6-2.
