Two booked for firing on ex-MPA

MUZAFFARRGARH: Saddar police have registered a case against two people for allegedly firing on former MPA Rafaqat Gilani.
According to the first information report, former MPA Rafaqat Gilani, a resident of Layyah, was attending an event at Babar Alvi`s camp at Chak 133 TDA on Saturd ay night.
Two suspects, identified as Waqas alias Vicky Alvi and Rehan Kamboh, arrived at the camp in a car.
The suspects allegedly hit the MPA`s car, causing damage and later fired with a pistol.
Host Babar Alvi and the former MPA managed to save their lives by taking cover.
The suspects fled the scene after the firing.
Following an emergency call made by Babar Alvi to the police helpline (15), a case was registered at Saddar police station under sections 324 and 34 of the Pakistan PenalCode.
Police are raiding to arrest the suspects.
SUICIDE BID: A man attempted suicide by injecting himself with a substance extracted from the Giant Calotrope plant following a domestic dispute.
The family found Shoukat Hussain (36) unconscious and immediately contacted Rescue 1122. He was shifted to the hospital in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment.
In a separate incident, a woman was critically injured after being shot by her uncle during a domestic dispute on Monday.
The shooting occurred at Khangarh Saleem Chowk, around 20 kilometres from the city.
Reports said Sobia Mai, the wife of Ansar Abbas, was attacked by her husband`s uncle, who opened fire with a pistol, fatally injuring her. After receiving first aid, she was shifted to Muzaffargarh District Headquarters Hospital where she was unconscious.
