HARIPUR: The police claimed on Monday to have arrested a man along with his brother for killing his wife in Kangra Colony here.

The accused allegedly attempted to mislead the police by insisting that the incident was a suicide, officials said.

Kotnajibullah police quoted Samiullah of Lower Dir district as saying that his sister, Hizra Bibi, 22, was married to Waeed Shah of Khiroch village, who was presently living in Kangra Colony, about two years ago. He said that the couple had no children and the man used to subject his wife to violence.

`On Sunday evening, Waheed Shah informed their family that Hizra Bibi had died by suicide as she hanged herself from the ceiling fan,` the complainant said. He, however, said that the condition of the body and the autopsy proved that his sister was strangled by her husband and his elder brother, Saeed Shah.

`For misleading the investigators the accused hung her body from the ceiling fan, the complainant said.

On his complaint, the police registered a criminal case under sections 302/34 of Pakistan Penal Code and arrested both the accused. Correspondent
