KARACHI: Three robbers snatched Rs1.8 million from the manager of a petrol pump in Federal B.

Area on Tuesday, police said.

Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi said that as per statement of the pump manager, he was taking money from the pump to a bank. However, three robbers on two motorcycles snatched the cash from him.

The SSP said an investigation had been launched and they suspected that an insider might be involved in the robbery.

He said all other petrol pumps took police security while transferring their cash but that particular pump owner did not ask for any police security and the robbers `already knew` that the manager was carrying the money.

Meanwhile, a suspected carjacker was shot dead and another wounded in an alleged encounter with the AntiVehicles Lifting Cell of police on Tuesday.
