Dialogue explores ways to combat radicalisation

I S L A M A B A D : Participants of a dialogue Thursday explored strategies to address the critical issue of societal division and enhance youth participation in democratic processes.

Titled, `Grand Dialogue with Youth on Preventing Polarisation and Radicalisation`, organised at Sialkot Medical College, Daska, brought together students, policymakers, media professionals, civil society leaders and academics.

The Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) and Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness (SFEA) had earlier joined hands to work together to counter polarisation and radicalisation, especially amongstthe youth in the country.

The dialogue focused on the vital role of young people in building a more inclusive and tolerant society.

YPF President Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar urged young people to embrace optimism, reject misinformation and actively engage in constructive national discourse.

She reaffirmed the government`s commitment to addressing youth concerns and implementing policies that empower them as active participants in governance.

Executive Director of Community Development Concern (CDC, Sialkot) Abdul Shakoor Mirza analysed the root causes of radicalisation, its societal impact and the potential for youth to promote resilience within their communities.

Participants explored the crucial importance of education, media, political par-ticipation and economic empowerment in countering radicalisation.

Chairman Board of Governors, University of Sialkot Faisal Manzoor highlighted the importance of critical thinking, responsible journalism and skillsbased economic independence in mitigating societal divisions.

YPF Board Member Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani and lawmaker Faisal Akram talked about policy reforms, national youth participation and public health initiatives, examining both the challenges and opportunities for youth involvement in governance and community development.

DPO Sialkot Region Muhammad Faisal Shahzad provided valuable insights into youth participation in law enforcement and responsible citizenship.
