A homeopathic doctor was arrested and a case was registered with Banni police on the complaint of Abid Ali, the 11-year-old victim`s father.
Abid Ali, who belonged to Jalalpur Jattan, had left his daughter at the residence of the doctor some three months ago to work as a domestic help.
He claimed that when he learnt that his daughter was being mistreated by her employer, he asked the doctor to hand over his daughter to him.
The girl alleged that she had been beaten up and tied with a rope by her employer and his family.
`They threatened to kill me if I told anyone that I had been beaten up,` the girl claimed in her statement to the police.
Imtiaz Hussain, assistant sub-inspector who is leading the investigation, told Dawn that the girl was taken to the hospital for medical examination to ascertain whether she had been beaten up. The report is yet to be received.
However, according to preliminary report, the investigation officer said, there were some marks on the girl`s body but they were not recent.
