SAU professor’s ‘missing’ son returns home

HYDERABAD: The son of a Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) professor who had mysteriously disappeared along with his uncle on April 17 returned home at 2.15pm on Thursday.

Prof Dr Abdullah Arijo, chairman of department of parasitology, told Dawn that some unidentified men picked up his son Shayan Ahmed, 22, and his cousin Khadim Hussain Arijo and took them away in two separate vehicles near their house in Hussainabad.

“Shayan was interrogated about himself, his family and his uncle, Khadim Hussain by the men and was permitted to go home. He drove back home all alone on his motorcycle from the place where he was left 15-20 kilometres from Hyderabad,” he said.

The professor said that his son was not tortured physically or mentally and was unaware about the whereabouts of his uncle.

He said the men who picked them up were not kidnappers and hesitated to say any more about them. He did not inform police about the arrival of his son, neither had the police contacted him so far in this regard, he added.
