PPP raps govt for long queues at Ramazan bazaars

By Our Staff Reporter 2021-04-21
LAHORE: The Pakistan People Party has criticised the government for what it says failing to provide relief to the people even during Ramazan as they are forced to stand in long queues to get essentials in the so-called model bazaars.

Talking to the media after visiting Shadman Model Bazaar here on Tuesday, PPP Punjab information secretary Syed Hasan Murtaza lamented that people were allowed to purchase just two kilograms of sugar after waiting for hours in long queues, while the quality of wheat flour and vegetables at these facilities was also questionable.

He said the prices of chicken, fruits and vegetables had touched the highest mark in the history of the country as the government was just playing the role of a silent spectator.

He said the government should at least try to provide the essential kitchen items at the actual prices if it could not subsidise them.

He said the Buzdar government had lost its majority in Punjab, but other opposition parties were not comprehending the issue.

Urging the Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz, the largest opposition party in the province, to take the difficult decision of working to dislodge the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf`s `minority` government, Mr Murtaza cautioned that the PML-N would also lose its popularity if it left the masses at the mercy of the `incompetent` government.

He was of the view that the PML-N wanted to earn a dividend for the bad governance of the Buzdar government in the next general elections.
