Turkish Cyprus wants to boost trade ties with Pakistan: envoy

RAWALPINDI: Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ambassador Dilsad Senol has said her country is keen in deepening trade relations with Pakistan.

It has identified several promising sectors for cooperation, including agriculture, construction, tourism, education and dairy sector, she said during her visit to Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

Ambassador Senol was accompanied by Yasar Yilancilar, deputy chief of mission.

Ms Senol held a meeting withRCCI office-bearers and discussed ways to improve bilateral trade ties and explore new avenues of economic cooperation.

Highlighting the existing educational ties, Ambassador Senol noted that over 20 universities operated in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with more than 3,000 Pakistani students currently enrolled.

She said shared cultural and religious values between the two nations further strengthen the foundation for economic engagement.

The meeting was attended by RCCI Senior Vice President KhalidFarooqQazi,VicePresident Fahad Barlas, former president Raja Amir Iqbal and members ofthe executive committee.

RCCI President Usman Shaukat highlighted the chamber`s initiatives in promoting regional trade and diversification into non-conventional sectors such as pharmaceuticals, marble, gemstones, halal meat and tourism.

He emphasised the importance of mutual exchange of trade delegations to explore untapped potential and enhance bilateral collaboration.

`RCCI remains steadfast in its mission to foster international cooperation, strengthen global business linkages and open new doors of opportunity for the Pakistani business community, he said.
