Life term for killer in murder case

BAHAWALPUR:An additional district and sessions judge in Multan on Saturday handed down life imprisonment to a man in a murder case and separate jail terms in rape andnarcotics cases.
Judge H aider Ali Khan sentenced Shahzaib to life in prison and imposed a fine of Rs500,000 for killing his rival Ghulam Sarwar on Sep 28, 2023 in the Makhdum Rashid police precinct. Shahzaib had also injured Muhammad Hanif in the same incident.
The court handed him an additional eight-year term and a Rs20,000 fine for injuring Hanif. Police had submitted the challan after arresting him.
In a separate case, the same court sentenced Umarzada to 10 years in prison for raping a woman. The court imposed a Rs200,000 fine, half of which is to be paid to the rape survivor as compensation.
The incident took place on Aug 26, 2023, when the woman visited the convict to ask about her missing son. According to the prosecution, Mumtazabad police gad registered the case.
In another conviction, Additional Sessions Judge Hassan Abbas Syed handed down 14years` imprisonment to Saba Bibi for drug trafficking.
Police arrested her after recovering narcotics from her possession and submitted her challan to the court.
CASE: Sirai Sadhu police in Khanewal district booked Assistant Sub -Ins pe ctor Muhammad Kamran for allegedly killing his wife Ruqqia Bibi.
Police sources said Kamran had poisoned his wife after a domestic dispute. The woman succumbed to the poisoning while being taken to the Kabirwala THQ Hospital by her brother Salim Akhtar.
He said Ruqqia regained consciousness during transit and accused her husband of mixing poison in her drinking water. On his complaint, police registered a murder case against Kamran, who remains at large.
ASF: Airport Security Force (ASF) at Multan airport recovered 1,648 grams of charas from a passenger attempting to board a flight to Muscat.
The accused, Gul Zaman, a resident of Lakki Marwat, was due to fly on private airline flight when ASF officials searched his luggage and found the narcotics.
He was handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force for further investigation.
