P&D dept officers body elects office bearers

PESHAWAR: Hamid Naveed has been elected as president of Planners Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mr Naveed got 103 votes of the officers of the planning cadre of the province, defeating Hidayatullah Wazir, who bagged 95 votes, during the election, which was held at the planning and development department.

Similarly, Abid Wazir was elected as vice-president-1, Israr Ahmed vice-president-II, Taimur Malik general secretary, Malghalara Gigyani press secretary and Mohammad Irfan as finance secretary.

The newly-elected president of the planning cadre said that they would make all-out efforts to strengthen planning cells at all the administrative departments.

He said that they would advocate for establishment of dedicated planning cells within key infrastructure and service delivery departments, including public health engineering, communication & works, and the Central Police Office, to institutionalise professional planning practices and ensure PPS-led technical input in all development initiatives.

He said that they would remove anomalies in the nomenclature of planning-related positions all across the province, which will help in protection of functional domain of PPS professionals.
