NGO to provide facilities to schools

PESHAWAR: A nongovernmental organisation would spend Rs32 million on providing missing facilities of drinking water, toilets and boundary walls in 50 schools of Peshawar, Nowshera and Kohat districts under the Tameer-i-School Programme of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

This was announced by deputy country director ACTED Syed Mohammad Aftab during a meeting here on Tuesday chaired by provincial minister for elementary and secondary education Mohammad Atif, according to a handout.

Additional secretary education Qaisar Alam, managing director of Elementary Education Foundation Asmatullah Shah and others were also in attendance.

It was decided at the meeting that the NGO would provide the missing facilities with the cooperation of parents teacher councils in the respective schools till July 20.

Philanthropists and other organisations have shown interest in the Tameer-i-School Programme, which was launched by PTI chief Imran Khan on April 30. An amount of Rs6 million has already been donated by well-off people for the programme.
