Imran asks PM to disclose all his assets to nation

By Mohammad Saleem 2016-05-21
FAISALABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan has asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to disclose all his assets to the nation as reports are pouring in that he (the prime minister) has properties in Singapore and other countries of the world.

The PTI chief claimed that Mr Sharif was trying to buy conscience of the people and Maulana Fazlur Rehman had sold himself without delay to the PML-N.

`I will try to keep the opposition united on the issue of accountability from top and if other people don`t join me I will continue my struggle as I and my party have been struggling against corruption for the last 20 years. We will not budge from our position now,` Mr Khan declared.

`How the masses will trust aprime minister who is telling a lie to the nation in parliament and why the people will pay taxes when they have doubts that rulers will not spend the amount on provision of potable water, education and healthcare system.

`The Pakistani nation is the largest charity contributor, but the least taxpayer in the world because it does not trust the people at the helm of affairs,` the PTI chief said.

He urged the masses to be ready to bring about a change in the country which was impossible without struggle.

Addressing a charged crowd at the Dhobi Ground on Friday, Mr Khan said that he had been raising his voice against corruption of politicians because they (the politicians) had come to power only to amass the money.

`Corruption cannot be eliminated from the country until leaders sit-ting on top positions of the country are made accountable,` the PTI chief said.

`When a prime minister and his ministers are involved in corruption how can they stop others from doing the same?` Mr Khan asked.

`Public money is being looted with impunity, but people are under the impression that government money has been embezzled,` he said.

`To silence my voice, some corrupt elements had attacked my personal life, implicated my former wife Jemima Khan in a tiles smuggling case and described her as a member of the Jewish lobby,` he regretted.

During the speech of Mr Khan, footage featuring statements of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chaudhary Nisar Ali, Maryam Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz on their flats in London, was also played.Mr Khan said that the condition of the prime minister was pathetic when he had come to address parliament as he was reading a written speech, drinking water frequently and feeling hot even though he was standing in the air-conditioned hall of the National Assembly.

`We have land registry of the prime minister`s Mayfair flats. A house owned by Hassan in London was sold against Rs6.5 billion. From where this money came to buy this precious house,` Mr Khan asked.

He announced joining the farmers` protest on May 23 in Lahore and vowed to introduce policies for farmers, labourers and industrialists when his party was voted to power.

He said that the government had imposed 98 per cent tax on diesel, 50 per cent on petrol, Rs43 of Rs100 are deducted on cellphone cards and people were paying 17 per cent GST on all products.
