LAHORE: The provincial government and Chinese firm Huawei signed Punjab Safe Cities Project here on Friday. Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the chief guest.
The project will start from Lahore before being extended to Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan.
Under the project, 8023 latest CCTV cameras will be installed in Lahore in the first phase to be completed by October. At least 800 vehicles equipped with cameras will also be supporting the command and control centre in surveillance of the provincial metropolis against acts of terror, saboteur and organized crime.
Chief Operating Officer of Punjab Safe Cities Authority Akbar Nasir Khan and Chief Executive Officer Huawei Pakistan Meng Xiaojie signed the document.
The chief minister hoped the project would play an important role in dealing with any situation caused due to activities of anti-social elements, thieves, dacoits and terrorists.
