Swabi PTI leaders pledge to stand with Imran Khan

SWABI: Former adviser to the chief minister Abdul Karim Khan and other key leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday announced that they won`t quit the party and would continue to stand with their leader and former prime minister Imran Khan in current difficult times.

The announcement came after around 400 PTI leaders and workers were booked by the Chota Lahor City Police and over 110 party activists were taken into custody over the recent violent protests.

In a statement issued here, Mr Karim, who has alreadysecured pre-bail bail from a local court, said the PTI activists rendered great sacrifices for the party and won`t leave it in lurch.

`The party needs us [PTI workers] in the present crucial times,` he said.

The former adviser to the CM said that the PTI workers as well as the general public of Swabi district stood with Imran Khan and would continue doing so.

He said rumours were being spread about him and other leaders quitting the PTI.

Mr Khan said that leaders and workers of the party were securing release from the police`s custody on the orders of the courts and the day was not far when they all would be free again to resume working for the party with a renewed spirit.

Meanwhile, former PTI MPA Rangaiz Khan told Dawn here over the phone from an undisclosed location that the party leaders and workerswere united and would continue supporting their leader, Imran Khan.

RECOVERED: The police on Saturday recovered stolen jewellery worth thousands of rupees in Dagai village here.

District police officer Najamul Hussain told reporters that a domestic worker took away the jewellery weighing 15 tolas from the house of villager Hamad Anwar.

He said the house owner reported the theft to the Kalu Khan police station on Thursday.

The DPO said according to the complaint, someone took away jewellery from the box of a relative, who was a school headmistress and stayed at their home to perform an exam duty in the nearby Government Girls High School, Tarakai.

He said the stolen jewellery included a bracelet and other items.

The DPO said that the police arrested a woman servant ofthe house on suspicion and that she admitted during interrogation to stealing ornaments.

He said the jewellery was recovered from the woman`s possession afterwards.

WALK: A walk was held at the headquarters of Razaar tehsil here on Saturday to pay tribute to Kargil war hero Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed.

The walk call was given by local social workers and attended by people from different walks of life.

They all gathered at the Shewa Adda and marched in a procession to the mausoleum of Captain Karnal Sher Khan holding the Pakistani flag and shouting slogans for the Kargil hero.

The participants paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan and said no one was allowed to harm the integrity of the Pakistani Army, whose officers and soldiers rendered great sacrifices for the motherboard.
