KARACHl: The Sindh government has sacked the communication specialist for its Reforms Support Unit of the Sindh education department for writing an article in Dawn on the state of education and reforms programmes in the province, it emerged on Tuesday.
In a letter from the chief programme manager of the Reform Support Unit, the communication specialist, Asghar Soomro, was informed about termination of his services for his June 13 article.
`The second Sindh Education Sector Reform Project (SERP-II), a five-year plan with a total budget of $400 million, is about to complete its full cycle by the end of the current month. To everyone`s dismay, achievements under SERP-Il are pretty much the same as they were at the end of SERP-l.
We have not only squandered money, a World Bank loan, but have also lost time,` wrote Mr Soomro on June 13. On June 19, his services were terminated.
The termination letter from the chief programme manager called the article in Dawn a violation of the service contract by Mr Soomro.
