TRARKHAL: Pakistan has offered the UNCIP [United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan] to supply food to the people of the Indian-occupied Kashmir valley free of cost through the Pakistan Red Cross `on purely humanitarian grounds`. This was disclosed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr Liaquat Ali Khan, here yesterday [June 19].
Addressing a rally of Azad Kashmir`s regular forces, the Prime Minister said that if India entertained any fears, Pakistan was prepared to supply food through the International Red Cross. He hoped that the UNCIP in the interest of the starving millions would arrange for the supply of food-grains offered by Pakistan.
Drawing a contrast between the conditions prevailing in Azad Kashmir territory and those in the Indian-held parts of the State, he said that the conditions obtaining in Indianheld Kashmir were most appalling. He had received reports that people there were dying of famine and that some had been forced to kill their families and then commit suicide because they could not feed them.
Hence Pakistan`s offer for the supply of food was only prompted by a desire to help suffering humanity. News agencies
