MIANWALI: Rescue 1122 personnel on Friday retrieved the bodies of a man and his teenage son from the ChashmaJhelum canal, a day after they went missing along with a third family member.

M u h a m m a d Munawwar, 45, and his 13-year-old son Anees had drowned on Thursday.

His 11-year-old daughterShireen is still missing.

According to Rescue 1122, the operation began as soon as the team arrived at the site of the drowning. Up to 50 rescuers took part in the operation, moving in a line while holding a long rope to scan the canal.

After a nearly 30-hourlong search, the bodies of Munawwar and Anees were recovered about a kilometre downstream from the point where they had disappeared.
