Five booked for gang-rape bid on youth

SARGODHA: Five suspects were booked for making a gang-rape attempt on a 17-year-old youth in the Mangni area of Bhagtanwala on Sunday.
According to sources, the main suspect, abetted by three others, kidnapped the 17-year-old, drugged him, stripped him naked in a nearby garden and tried to commit gang rape. The accused fled after the boy screamed and fell unconscious.
The Bhagtanwala police have registered a case and arrested the suspects on the complaint of Ali Shan`s mother Bakht Bhari. The main accused has been arrested.
KIDNAPPED: A resident of Sargodha was allegedly kidnapped in Sadigabad three days back.
Abdul Qayyum, a resident of Fazil Town, was kidnapped. He left home four days ago, saying he was going to Sadigabad but did not return home.
The next day, his mobile phone number was switched off. At this, his wife approached the Satellite Town Police Station and alleged that her husband used to supply milk cream to baker-ies and went to Sadigabad for some work.
She received a video of torture from the kidnappers who demanded Rs5m and two iPhones.
The kidnappers threatened to kill Q ayyum if his family did not pay the ransom. The Satellite Police Station registered a case.
ENCOUNTERS: The Crime Control Department (CCD) Sargodha killed three suspects and injured one in four encounters at different places in the district.
The deceased included Irfan, a resident of Vajh, who was killed near Chak 9-NB, Saifullah, a resident of Mari Lak, 13-SB.
Muhammad Owais, a resident of Bhalwal tehsil, was arrested in an injured condition in a police encounter near 33 railways crossing.
FIRE: A passenger bus coming from Islamabad to Sargodha caught fire near Chak 40.
According to sources, the bus caught fire due to a technical fault. On receiving information, fire engines and rescue personnel reached the spot and performing rescue operation. They sent the passengers to their destinations in another vehicle.
