HYDERABAD: Declared dangerous by the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), structures of two residential buildings witnessed partial demolition on Saturday under civil administration`s supervision.
The residents were issued notices previously by the SBCA as the structures were declared dangerous, according to City Assistant Commissioner (AC) Babar Saleh.
Families were living in a ground plus two-storey building near Al Quraish Hospital in Hirabad.
Its structure was demolished.
The affected family members protested that they don`t have alternate place to go. They were being unnecessarily asked to vacate the premises, the residents said.
According to the AC, the families finally agreed to demolish the remaining structure on their own as it was tilted clearly. He said they could sale out the property or rebuild it for living.
He informed that another two-floor building was demolished on Bhurgari Road. The AC confirmed that both buildings were not part of the heritage list of the Sindh culture department.
He said that 74 buildings were declared dangerous in the city taluka alone by the SBCA and two of them faced demolition the other day.
