RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi district administration on Sunday directed the Rawal and Potohar Town municipal administrations to immediately remove banners advertising the collection of sacrificial animal hides.

The district administration will be imposing Section 144 on the collection of hides in its revenue limits three days before Eidul Azha, so no one may collect animal hides without permission from the district administration.

A meeting of local administration held at the commissioner office was informed that the Punjab government has not allowed any banned outfit to establish animal hide collection camps in the district, and that charities would also not be permitted to establish such camps without a non-objection certificate (NoC) from the district administration.

The meeting was chaired by acting commissioner Sajid Zafar Dall, and attended by assistant commissioner Saddar Tasneem Ali Khan, assistant commissioner Cantonment Qurutulain Malik, Water and Sanitation Agency managing director Raja Shaukat Mehmood, district officer civil defence Sanjeeda Khanum, executive district officer (EDO) education Qazi Zahoorul Haq, EDO agriculture Shahid Sajjad, district officer health Dr. Mohammad Raffique, and others.

Acting commissioner Dall told Dawn that Monday, September 21, was the last day for NoC applications for the collection of animal hides during Eid.

“No banned outfit will be allowed to display banners or collect animal hides,” he said.

He added that the provincial government is considering an improved plan for next year, and that a committee has been constituted to suggest methods for the collection of animal hides.

In addition, the Rawalpindi Waste Municipal Company has been asked to ensure cleanliness during Eid, and sanitary workers’ holidays have been cancelled in order to dispose of animal waste over Eid.
