HYDERABAD: Pakistan`s rice and cotton exports are likely to suffer due to massive production losses caused by recent floods, said Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Adeel Siddiqui on Tuesday.
He said the floods had destroyed the rice crop by 50pc whereas cotton had been washed away which was a direct loss to textile exports.
Talking to a delegation of importers and exporters on Monday, Mr Siddiqui said Pakistan was the fourth largest rice exporter and fetched over $2bn last year.
`Climate change-driven weather patterns had caused massive rainfall leading to damages to rice and cotton crops,` he added.-Our Correspondent
