Teacher gives fractured arm to child

TOBA TEK SINGH: Flying in the face of the government`s slogan of `Maar nahin pyaar`, a schoolteacheronThursday allegedly thrashed a Class 1 student who had his arm fractured for `not doing the homework`.

According to the Pirmahal police who arrested Rab Nawaz, the teacher at a Pirmahal primary school, Tariq Shahzad complained that theinstructorthrashedhis six-year-old son Fida Rehman who was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital with a fractured arm and bruises.

The teacher denied the allegation and claimed that the child fractured his arm after he fell on the ground while playing.

ELECTROCUTED: A 20-year-old electrician died due to an electric shock at Pirmahal on Thursday evening.

Witnesses said Tahir Shaukat, who resided at Shadman Colony, was fixing lights at a wedding function in Housing Colony when his handtouched a live wire and he died on the spot.

PROTEST: Medical store owners and druggists protested on Jhang Road on Thursday to oppose the Punjab government`s decision to empower private firms to inspect licences and take action against the violators.

Chemists and Druggists Association President Mian Imran Manzoor told reporters that the decision would open door to corruption in the province. He demanded withdrawal of the decision.

STRIKE: The Kamalia Tehsil Bar Association continued its strike for the seventh consecutive day on Thursday against alleged misbehaviour of Assistant Commissioner Khalid Mahmood with lawyers.

Bar President Rai Niaz Ahmad Khan said the protest would continue till the transfer of the officer.

On the other hand, the Kamalia TMA employees ended their protest against the AC af ter reconciliation. They were protesting over alleged misbehaviour by the AC with a clerk.
