KASUR: Ganda Singhwala police on Tuesday arrested a man on the charge of committing blasphemy for allegedly burning Eid Milad pamphlets and banners.
According to the first information report (FIR) lodged under section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of a citizen, Syed Mushtaq Hussain, the suspect, a resident of Mahalam Kalan village, burnt pam-phlets and banners publicly in a streets on Oct 14.
The complainant also quoted eyewitnesses, all residents of the same village, in the FIR.
Acting on the complaint, the police lodged a case and arrested the suspect.
Local sources said the suspect was also booked in an attempted rape case around a year ago. Police are looking into the matter.
