Mega science institute plan revived

B A H AW A L P U R : Governor Balighur Rehman says the Punjab government has revived the mega project of establishing Rs2 billion Bahawalpur Institute of Science and Technology.

Talking to Dawn at the local circuit house, the governor said after the revival of the scheme on his initiative, its PC-1 has been prepared and submitted for approval.

The governor regretted that the PTIgovernment during its rule had scrapped this scheme.

About its location, he said presently a piece of land was available adjacent to the newly-constructed building of theGovernment College for Home Economics.

He said work on the home economics college was also halted by the Buzdar government.

Rehman said presently he was working on the revival of his proposal to develop an artificial lake in the dry bed of river Sutlej to raise the under-ground water table to reduce the effects of arsenic.

To a question, the governor said a sum of 800 million was re cently allocatedfor the renovation and improvement of various wards of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).

He promised to examine the possibility of adding two machines of CT scan and MRI to the BVH.
