GUJRANWALA: The Wazirabad police have arrested two people impersonating Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials while attempting to transport a rented Toyota Land Cruiser.
The suspects were caught red-handed during a routine police check. Authorities discovered they were using forged documents to pose as FBR officials.
During interrogation, they confessed to being involved in tax theft activities.
TIMBER THEFT: Allegations have surfaced against Irrigation Department officials for their involvement in the theft and illegal sale ofvaluable trees.
Reports said that a subengineer and a laborer stationed in Noorpur Bangla, have colluded with other staff members to steal and sell timber worth millions. Recently, a large shipment of dry trees was being loaded onto a truck when local residents intervened.
The driver claimed a private individual had purchased the wood from the department.
Witnesses, including a laborer and a watchman, claimed ignorance of the theft, asserting that the operation was orchestrated by the sub-division officer and sub-engineer.
However, sub-engineer denied any involvement.
Local social circles are calling for action from the Chief Secretary.
