800 of 1,000 illegally occupied flats got vacated, CM told

KARACHI: The Sindh government managed to get back possession of 800 out of the 1,000 illegally occupied flats after a peaceful operation carried out by the AntiEncroachment Force (AEF) under the Board of Revenue (BoR) on Sunday and the rest 200 ones would soon be vacated through another operation.
This report was given to Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday by the BoR.
These flats, which were built in Gulshane-i-Maymar for labourers and allotted to them, had illegally been occupied by some people in the name of flood affected families of 2010 floods while its allottees were running from pillar to post to get the possession.
The matter when brought to the knowledge of the CM, he directed the BoR Senior Member Rizwan Memon and Karachi Commissioner to vacate the flats and report him.
The report sent by the AEFdirectorate through the BoR senior member says that the 1,000 flats were illegally occupied by some people in the name of flood affected families of 2010 floods despite the fact that the government had provided all the facilities, funds and other benefits to the flood affected people.
The AEF with the help of the district administration and police conducted a well-organised operation and got 800 flats vacated. Still 200 flats are in the illegal occupation for which another operation would be conducted shortly.
Before the operation, the government through national press/advertisement had directed the illegal occupants to vacate the flats or face the operation. Finally, the operation was conducted under the supervision of AEF Director Nawaz Sohu who got the 800 flats vacated.
UPLIFT PLANS: Meanwhile, addressing notables of Sehwan and Dadu talukas, who called on Murad Ali Shah at CM House here on Sunday, theCM said he had a plan to carry out development work all over Sindh and the district and taluka headquarters would also be upgraded and beautified.
`It is my utmost effort to utilize Rs25 billion district and Rs200 billion provincial ADPs properly for which off and on I keep reviewing development progress,` he said and added that he was well aware that villages, towns and cities of rural areas needed water supply and drainage system.
`Both schemes the government has taken up through district ADPs, public health engineering department, local government and now I am trying to take them up through provincial ADP also,` he said.
The CM urged notables to personally monitor the performance of schools. `You must watch whether teachers are going to schools regularly and taking classes,` he said and added that each and every individual must extend a helping hand to the government for improvement of education and health services.
