TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra City police registered on Wednesday a case against three dozen Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activists, including seven nominated, for taking out a rally some seven months ago and allegedly raising slogans against the army.

Police arrested two of them a defeated PTI candidate from NA-105 Usama Hamza (son of former late Senator M.

Hamza) and PTI Gojra tehsil ex-general secretary Rana Kashif Aslam.

However, other nominated workers could not be arrested.

In the first information report registered undersections 501, 109, 5051(C) and 505(2) of Pakistan Penal Code and sections 4, 5, 16, 11, 20 and 22 of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, complainant Haider Karar Jat of Chak 306 JB claimed that he was present on May 9 at Malkanwala Chowk when he witnessed that Usama Hamza, Rana Kashif Aslam, Ahsan Ihsan Gujjar (son of a former late PML-N MPA Ihsanul Haq Gujjar), Shabbir Gujjar, Feheem Wahla and Naeem Bhuller were leading a procession along with 30 others and chanting slogans against Pakistan army due to which his sentiments were hurt.

In Toba Tek Singh, city police filed a similar FIR under same sections against more than two dozen PTI activists after a delay of seven months.

Complainant Muhammad Arif of Chak 382 JB claimed that on May 9 former PTI MPASaeed Ahmad Saeedi, Arif Janbaz Qazi (son of late PPP leader Ghiasuddin Janbaz) and 26 other activists took out a rally at Shahbaz Chowk and chanted slogans against Pakistan army. Saeedi has been abroad for the last severalmonths.

In another incident, Faisalabad`s Dijkot police raided the house of former PTI MPA Malik Umer Farooq to arrest him; however, he was not found. This could not be known in which case police was to arrest him.

Meanwhile, PTI district president advocate Mian Abdul Basit has condemned the arrest of two party leaders of Gojra. He alleged that police broke into the residence of Usama Hamza and the houses of other party activists for arrests.

He lamented that Usama Hamza, a ticket holder from NA-105, had been arrested when he was to file his nomina-tion papers. He said arrest of PTI workers in so-called case registered after a delay of seven months is a conspiracy to prevent Tehreek-i-Insaf candidates from filing nomination papers.

Arrested party activist Rana Kashif Aslam had announced quitting PTI some four months ago.
