Man gets RI in terrorism case

SARGODHA: AntiTerrorism Court judge Nadeem Tahir Syed on Wednesday handed down five-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a suspect in a terrorism case.

On Oct 11, suspect Naseer Mirza of Bhalwal`s Islampura neighbourhood was raided by the CTD police on the information that he was pasting stickers of banned organisations on the walls and distributing pamphlets in the area. He was caught red-handed and stickers and pamphlets carrying objectionable material were recovered from his possession.

A case was registered against him under various offences of AntiTerrorism Act and PPC.

On Wednesday, the judge sentenced him fiveyear jail term and shifted him to the district jail.

RENT: Taking notice of anextraordinaryincrease in the rent of more than 600 government shops in Sargodha city, the com-missioner and administrator formed a sub-committee to determine the market value in consultation with traders.

Commissioner Ajmal Bhatti, who is also holding additional charge of municipal corporation administrator, constituted the sub-committee headed by Chief Officer Tariq Proya, and directed him to determine the rent according to the market value after a case-bycase review.

The commissioner said the main objective of the municipal corporation is to provide relief to the public and especially the business community and tenants who were willing to pay rent. Therefore, they should be given a discount of up to 10pc from the market.

He directed that 2pc transfer fee should be collected from the original allottees and 7pc from the substitutes and after the completion of the five-year contract, the auction process should be conducted as per the rules.
