TAXILA: The Wah Cantonment police said on Tuesday they busted a gang involved in street crime and arrested two of its members.

According to a spokesperson for the police, they recovered looted booty and weapons allegedly used in various criminal activities.

The spokesperson said that a team led by station house officer Sub-inspector Imran Afridi raided the hideout of the gang and arrested two suspects.

He further claimed that stolen cash, weapons and seven snatchedmotorcycles were recovered by the police.

During preliminary interrogation, the gang allegedly confessed to a number of snatching activities in the federal capital.

Meanwhile, police during a crackdown launched against drug traffickers arrested four members of an inter-city racket of drug peddlers and recovered over 5 kilograms of hashish from their possession.

The police spokesperson said that during a crackdown, Wah Cantonment police recovered 1.70 kilograms of hashish from one of the suspects.

Wah Saddar police recovered 1.20 kilograms of hashish fromanother individual while the Taxila police recovered 1.60 and 1070 kilograms of hashish from two suspects in separate raids.

The spokesperson said the police registered separate cases under section 9-C of the Control of Narcotics Substance Act 1997 and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, the Taxila police foiled a bid to smuggle kites from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab and arrested a suspect.

A police spokesperson said that during a routine check, 3,000 kites and 20 string rolls were recovered from a suspect who was allegedly smuggling the banned items in his mini truck.
