PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Tuesday criticised the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for what he called `compromising` on the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He was speaking at a meeting of provincial office-bearers of QWP here on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed arrangements for a public meeting to mark the death anniversary of Shaheed Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao. Sikandar Sherpao said that though PTI was ruling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the third straight term, it had done nothing to secure the rights of the province.

He said that employees of provincial government were compelled to stage protests for release of their salaries. He said that PTI pushed the province to the brink of bankruptcy owing to its flawed policies.

The QWP leader said that though it was the right of PTI to stageprotests, it must not neglect the wellbeing of residents of the province. He said that PTI government was least bothered to mitigate the sufferings of poor. He said that people were grappling with soaring prices of daily use commodities.

He said that provincial government was responsible for the worsening law and order in the province particularly in Kurram tribal district where the roads had been closed for more than two months.

Sikandar Sherpao said that PTI leadership had withdrawn from its so-called `absolutely not` mantra and the party now attached expectations to Trump administration in the United States.

He said that QWP would spare no effort to secure the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that QWP was committed to upholding Constitution and rule of law. He said that his party was striving to ensure provincial autonomy and help to overcome the challenges being faced by the country. Bureau report
