Boy kidnapped for ransom freed within hours

TOBA TEK SINGH: A trader`s son kidnapped on Tuesday morning from Shadman Town in Faisalabad for a ransom of Rs50 million was recovered in the evening.

Muhammad Tahir informed the Millat Town police that his son Hammad, a ninth-grade student, was riding a motorcycle to school when the gunmen bundled him into their car near the Chinioti Hospital and fled.

They demanded a ransom of Rs50m through a call to his father, while the police picketed roads.

Later, the captors dropped Hammad near Bawa Chak on Sargodha Road.

Police said all exit roads were sealed to arrest the kidnappers.

INJURED: Five passengers were injured when a bus overturned near Gojra on TobaFaisalabad Road on Tuesday.Rescue 1122 said the Sadigabad-to-Faisalabad bus went out of control due toheavyfogandoverturned.

Five people were shifted to the Gojra THQ Hospital. They were identified as Zahid Waheed, Ikram, Rehana Bibi, Nazir Ahmad and Noreen Shahzad.

Also, a van ran over two motorcyclists on Tuesday near the Korian canal bridge in Faisalabad. One person died and the other was seriously wounded and rushed to the DHQ hospital. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Sharif. The accident occurred due to heavy fog. Also, a man died under a train.

Rescue 1122 said Saeed Rehman was crossing the railway line near Nishatabad railway station when he was hit by the train.

In another incident, a trailer hit a pedestrian woman at Khurrianwala on Sheikhupura Road.

She died in theKhurrianwala Rural Health Centre.

She was identified as Yasmin Bibi from Chak 72-RB.

BODY: The body of Farooq Aslam from Chichawatni was recovered on Tuesday from fields in Chak 731-GB at Kamalia.

The police said he was strangled to death. The Kamalia Saddar police registered a murder case against unknown killers.

MATCHES: Five teams participated in the Intercollegiate Handball Championship at the Government College University, Faisalabad, on Tuesday.

Matches were played between the Government Degree College for Women of Sargodha Road and the Government Degree College for Women of Mamukanjan.

The final match was won by the Postgraduate College of Samundri while the second position was secured by the Government Degree College, Sargodha Road.
