BISP signs agreements with six banks to facilitate beneficiaries

ISLAMABAD: In an effort to further facilitate beneficiaries and create more transparency in its disbursement process, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) on Wednesday signed agreements with six banl(s for the payment of funds among its 9.3 million registered poor recipient households.
BISP Director General Naveed Akbar and representatives of the partner banl(s signed the agreements and exchanged notes in a ceremony held at the BISP headquarters.
The banks that have been hired for the disbursement of paymentsinclude Bank Al Falah, Bank of Punjab, Mobilink Microfinance, Telenor Microfinance Bank, Habib Banl( Limited (HBL), and HBL Microfinance.
BISP Chairperson Dr. Mohammad Amjad Saqib emphasised the importance of collective responsibility towards uplifting the marginalised.
`Irrespective of designation, as human beings and citizens of Pal(istan, we must perform our duties. Through our love and respect for our women, we can bring about positive change in their lives,` he asserted.The BISP chief stated that this ceremony solidified the commitment of all parties involved to the mission of serving the most vulnerable members of society with dignity and transparency.
With beneficiary awareness and a grievance redressal system created in collaboration with banks, we are poised to overcome challenges and achieve a more responsive system, he added.
Previously, BISP was utilising the services of only two banks, and their contracts had expired some years ago.-Staff Reporter
