KASUR: The Chunian tehsil administration detained a person on Tuesday at the Chunian community centre for posing as a revenue official and obtaining CNICs from recipients of free flour in order to enable them to obtain flour bags without having to wait in line for Rs100 apiece.

The pohce recovered 20 CNICs from suspect Rana Akram and arrested him under sections 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 170 (pretending to be a public servant), 468 (forgery), 471 (fraudulent use of any document), 186 (obstructing any public servant in the discharge of his duty), and506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Naib Tehsildar Zahir Ahmed.

According to the complainant, the suspect introduced himself as a revenue official and collected CNICs from the women present atthe centre.

The accused later forced the officials at the point to hand over 20 bags to him.

This led to an exchange of arguments, forcing the complainant to intervene.

ROBBERS: Villagers Harikay Naul residents caught three alleged robbers on Tuesday, and beat them before handing them over to the Khudian police.

In the wake of rising street crime and house dacoities, locals have introduced their own security (thakri pahra). Late on Monday, the community volunteers stopped three people at the entry point of the village, but they tried to flee taking the cover of indiscriminate firing. The firing alerted other villagers who chased the robbers and after a trade of firing, caught them. They were identified as Tahir Mayo of village Cheena Ottar, and Bilal and Tahir of Lahore village Kamaha.

DEAD: The Allahabad police on Tuesday found a man dead, who had been missing for six days at village Bhalarian.

According to complainant Muhammad Majid, his brother Adil Shah left his house on March 16 after he received a call and did not return.

The family searched him and, later, got a case registered with the local police against unidentified kidnappers. On Tuesday, the police recovered a male body from the fields, later, identified as that of Shah.

The police shifted the body to the Chunian THQ Hospital for an autopsy and started an investigation.

SUICIDE: Karam Din died by suicide on Tuesday at village Kot Nanka Singh, within the limits of the Allahabad police station. Locals found him hanging from a tree in the fields near his mud house. The police shifted the body to the Chunian THQ Hospital and later handed it over to the bereaved family after legal formalities.
