BAHAWALNAGAR: A seminary teacher chained and thrashed a seven-year-old student allegedly for not memorising the lesson in sub-tehsil of Mandi Sadiq Ganj on Friday.

The uncle of Naveed Abbas told the police that Qari Asif chained his nephew, held him hostage in a room and also severely thrashed him.

The victim said his teacher would always punish him in the same way whenever he failed to memorise the lesson.

The police have registered a case against the teacher on the complaint of victim`s uncle. The police sent the boy to the Minchanabad THQ Hospital for medical examination.
