KHAR: Nurses at the agency headquarters hospital, Khar, on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the hospital management for conducting search of the hostel without prior notice.
Scores of nurses of the main hospital and other health facilities of the region participated in the protest, chanting slogans against the hospital management, including the medical superintendent Dr Khan Saeed, for causing embarrassment to them as the search was carried out by personnel of Levies and male staf f of the hospital to find out some anonymous persons there.
They termed the incident as shameful and violation of their privacy. The nurses said there was no male in the hostel at the time of the raid. They said the management should have informed about its plans to search their hostel.
They demanded of the political administration and the health department to take notice of the matter so suchincidents didnot occurinfuture.
The medical superintendent told reporters that the action at the nursing hostel was conducted upon the information that some unknown persons had entered the premises.
However, he acknowledged that the personnel found no man inside the hostel, and extended apologies to the female nurses for causing embarrassment to them. He said security of the hostel had been enhanced.
