ISLAMABA: Seeking debate in the upper house over respective agreements between the government and the banned Tehreek-iLabbaik Pakistan (TLP), the Jamiat ulema-i-IslamFazal(JUI-F)onWednesday demanded that details of these agreements should be disclosed in the Senate.
The issue has been raised by JUI-F member in the upper house Senator Kamran Murtaza.
He has filed a motion in the Senate secretariat, seeking details of the agreement reached with TLP and demanded that the deal should be discussed in the house. The motion points towards the lack of details regarding the agreement between TLP and the government on Nov 16, 2020 along with the revised agreement on Jan 11, 2021.
Besides this, Senator Murtaza has sought a detailed briefing on the incident of firing by Punjab police at supporters of the group in Lahore. Law and order was disturbed after the police started firing at protesters, it was stated inthe motion.
The JUI-F is the only mainstream political party to openly extend support to the TLP and Maulana Fazalur Rehman had announced to become partof the TLP protest towards Islamabad scheduled on April 20.
However, JUI-F workers did not join protests by TLP after its leader Saad Rizvi was arrested on April 12.
