RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Home Department has directed the deputyinspectorgeneralof police (DIG) Operations to provide details of non-custom paid vehicles (NCP) apprehended, disposed of, impounded, returned and auctioned across the province in line with the decision of Central Apex Committee under revised nationalaction plan.

According to sources, the Punjab Home Department had sought the detailed information from the DIG Operations regarding crackdown on illegal spectrum activities including non-customs paid (NCP) vehicles across the Punjab province.

The directives were given in the light of a decision taken by the Central Apex Committee meeting held in November last year with the prime minister in the chair.

The district coordination committees (DCCs) under revised National Action Plan (2021)weremandatedtolaunch crackdown against illegal spec-trum activities including noncustom paid vehicles.

The Police had been directed to provide the details of NCP vehicles impounded, disposed of, returned or auctioned and how many such vehicles were in balance.

Sources said following the Provincial home department`s directive, the AIG Operations on behalf of IGP Punjab early this month had asked all the regional police officers (RPOs), city police officers (CPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) across the province to provide the details of NCP vehicles.

The Central Apex Committee meeting had been held in November in which the decision was taken, however, apparently the police was unable to provide the details sought by the home department till the first week of April, sources said.

When a senior police officer of Rawalpindi district was asked about the home department`s directives regarding apprehending NCP vehicles, he said: `It was not to his knowledge.
