10 suspected militants killed in CTD-police operation

LAHORE: The Mianwali police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Monday to have killed 10 suspected militants in Makarwal, Mianwali district.

According to an official statement issued on Monday, the Mianwali police and CTD conducted a successful joint operation against militants in Makarwal, killing at least 10 of them and injuring several others.

A police spokesperson said that more than `10 militants were sent to hell during the operation, and there are reports of more militants being injured. A local resident was wounded in the leg due to militants gunfire and was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

He said the operation against `the Kharwarji militants` is ongoing under the supervision of Sargodha Regional Police Officer Shahzad Asif Khan and Mianwali DPO Akhtar Farooq. He said the DPO, other officers and personnel remained safe in the operation.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the CTD and Punjab police for neutralising militants in Makerwal.

She expressed best wishes for the CTD and Punjab police, adding `brave sons of our security forces are our national pride.

Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar congratulated Mianwali police on the `remarkable success against the Kharwarji militants`.

In a separate statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the Punjab police and CTD, stating that the law enforcement agencies `achieved a great success by bringing the militants to an exemplary end.
